Cardinals Gold Glove Winning Third Baseman Nolan Arenado May Soon Play For The Als Houston Astros

Ex-Cardinals Gold Glover Reportedly 'Close to Signing' Deal with AL West Front-Runner

Cardinals Gold Glove-winning third baseman, Nolan Arenado, may soon play for the AL’s Houston Astros.

Sources: Arenado, Astros Close to Agreement

Nolan Arenado, the 31 year-old, 5-time All-Star and 9-time Gold Glove winner, is reportedly close to signing a deal with the Houston Astros, according to sources familiar with the situation.

Arenado was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals in 2021 after spending the first eight seasons of his career with the Colorado Rockies. He has since won two Gold Gloves in St. Louis.

The Astros are reportedly interested in Arenado's defensive prowess and his ability to hit for power. He is a career .293 hitter with 295 home runs.

If Arenado signs with the Astros, he would join a team that is looking to contend for a World Series title in 2023. The Astros won the AL West in 2022 and lost to the Philadelphia Phillies in the World Series.

The Cardinals are reportedly willing to trade Arenado if they can get a good return in return. The Astros are reportedly willing to give up a package of prospects, including outfielder Hunter Brown and infielder Enmanuel Valdez.

Arenado is reportedly interested in playing for a contender, and the Astros are certainly that. Houston has won the AL West four times in the last six years and has been to the World Series three times in that span.

If Arenado signs with the Astros, it would be a major coup for the team. He is one of the best third basemen in baseball and would immediately improve the Astros' defense and offense.
